Erhan Arıklı responds to renewed arrest warrant efforts

Minister of Public Works and Transport Erhan Arıklı has responded sharply to renewed efforts by Greek Cypriot authorities to issue international arrest warrants regarding the 1996 death of Tassos Isaac in Deryneia.

Greek Cypriot authorities have reportedly identified five individuals, including Arıklı, for potential international arrest warrants linked to the 1996 incident. While Arıklı's name appears in the investigation files and was subject to an Interpol search that led to his detention in Kyrgyzstan in 2012, he has not been convicted of any crime related to the death of Isaac.

Arıklı dismissed the renewed legal actions with a harsh verbal rebuke, stating that the move is an attempt to reopen old wounds. The case remains a point of contention following previous rulings by the European Court of Human Rights.
