Eric Bischoff proposes ranking system for professional wrestling

Eric Bischoff has proposed that professional wrestling implement a top ten rankings system to increase the stakes of championship pursuits. Speaking on the ‘83 Weeks’ podcast, Bischoff argued that a clear path to title opportunities would provide more narrative substance and give fans a reason to invest in rivalries.

Bischoff suggested that maintaining a championship on a villainous character for an extended period helps build a compelling challenger, making the eventual victory feel more earned. He cautioned that frequent title changes without significant narrative momentum can diminish the perceived value of the championship and fail to generate audience energy.

In related industry activity, Cageside Seats released its Week 21 wrestler rankings, which include performers such as Rebel, Andy ‘The Butcher’ Williams, and Sami Zayn. The rankings contribute to the annual Cageside Cup competition.
