Eric Bischoff says Vince McMahon created Chad Gable's Shorty G gimmick

Former WWE SmackDown Executive Director Eric Bischoff explained on his 83 Weeks podcast that the Shorty G character given to Chad Gable was originated by Vince McMahon, not by Bischoff himself. He recalled weekly meetings with McMahon where the idea was presented, then passed to marketing for visual development before being offered to Gable. Bischoff said the process lasted only a few weeks and that he was merely executing McMahon’s vision.

Gable, who later captured the Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam, described the Shorty G gimmick as a low point in his career and has repeatedly asked who was responsible for its creation. Bischoff confirmed that the concept was McMahon’s and that his own involvement was limited to overseeing the rollout.
