Eric Blahic appointed head coach of Morocco women's national football team

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation has officially appointed French coach Eric Blahic to lead the Morocco women's national football team, known as the Atlas Lionesses. Blahic succeeds Spanish coach Jorge Vilda following the team's recent performance in the Women's Africa Cup of Nations.

Blahic, 61, brings extensive experience from French football, having served in technical roles at clubs such as Bordeaux and Guingamp, and as an assistant at Nantes. He also previously served as an assistant coach for the French women's national team during the 2023 Women's World Cup and the Paris 2024 Olympics.

To begin his tenure, Blahic has called up a 31-player squad for two friendly matches against Uzbekistan. The first match is scheduled for October 9 in Rabat, with a second match following on October 12. The squad includes a mix of domestic players from clubs like AS FAR and players competing in European leagues for clubs including Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Porto.
