Eric Dickerson sues California school over alleged racial bullying

NFL Hall of Fame running back Eric Dickerson has filed a lawsuit against Oaks Christian School in Westlake Village, California, alleging that administrators failed to protect his sixth-grade son from persistent racial bullying and physical assaults during the 2024-2025 academic year.

The complaint, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, accuses the private school of negligence, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and violations of California’s Unruh Civil Rights Act. According to the filing, students repeatedly targeted the boy with racial slurs, including the N-word, during school activities such as a field trip to a zoo. The lawsuit also alleges that a student who used these slurs frequently carried a knife on campus without facing disciplinary action.

Additional allegations include physical incidents, such as a female student striking the boy in the head and taking his food. The family’s attorney, Robert Glassman, stated that despite repeatedly informing school officials about the abuse, the school allowed the harassment to continue. The lawsuit claims that when the boy reported certain incidents to staff, he was met with skepticism rather than support.
