Eric Idle cancels Australia and New Zealand tour due to health issues

Comedian and Monty Python star Eric Idle has cancelled his upcoming ‘An Evening of Idle Conversation’ tour of Australia and New Zealand on medical advice. The 83-year-old performer stated that while the decision was difficult, he must follow the instructions of his doctors.

The tour was scheduled to take place between November and December 2026, with stops in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, Auckland, Christchurch, and Wellington. Idle did not specify the nature of his current health concerns, though it was noted he previously underwent surgery for pancreatic cancer in 2019.

Local promoter Fane indicated that ticket holders will receive automatic refunds. Idle expressed his apologies to the venues and fans, stating he hopes to return for new shows once his health permits.
