Eric Jones challenges incumbent Mike Thompson in California

Democratic congressional candidate Eric Jones is attempting to unseat incumbent Representative Mike Thompson in California’s 4th Congressional District. Jones, a 35-year-old philanthropist and former venture capitalist, is running on a platform aimed at uniting progressive Democrats and disaffected Republicans.

The redrawn district spans from Napa and Sonoma counties to Yuba and Sutter counties. Because no Republican candidate advanced from the June primary, the November election will feature a contest between two Democrats. Jones has self-funded his campaign with more than $5.1 million, seeking to build an anti-establishment coalition of voters who feel alienated by traditional party politics.
