Eric Nam on loneliness and hope in new Avatar series

K‑pop star and actor Eric Nam provides the voice of the adult Aang in the new "Avatar: The Last Airbender" series released on Paramount+. In an interview he says modern life is more connected than ever yet many people feel isolated, and he sees the story’s focus on genuine friendship as especially relevant.

Nam explains that the series, which continues the beloved animated world after nearly two decades, portrays loss, grief and setbacks but never ends in hopelessness. He hopes the narrative will give young viewers confidence that "we can do it together" and that the film’s hopeful message is needed in today’s world. The project took him almost three years to complete, and he describes the experience as surreal and emotionally resonant.
