Eric Simons appointed England Test bowling coach

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has appointed former South African bowler and coach Eric Simons as the bowling coach for the England Test team. Simons joins the coaching staff under Head Coach Stephen Fleming as part of a strategic move to bolster the team's pace bowling capabilities.

Simons brings extensive international experience, having previously served as a national selector for South Africa and a bowling coach for India. He has a long-standing professional relationship with Fleming, having worked together in various franchise leagues including the Chennai Super Kings, Joburg Super Kings, and Texas Super Kings.

This appointment reinforces England's structure of utilizing distinct coaching staffs for different formats. While Fleming leads the Test side, Brendon McCullum continues to oversee the white-ball formats. The new coaching arrangement is expected to be in place ahead of England's series against South Africa scheduled for December 2026.
