Erice beach theft leads to arrests in Palermo via GPS tracking

Two individuals have been arrested in Palermo following a theft on a beach in the Erice municipality. The suspects, a 49-year-old man from Campania and a 32-year-old woman from Trapani, allegedly stole a bag and two mobile phones from beachgoers at the San Giuliano coastal area.

The suspects attempted to evade detection by fleeing the area on a public bus heading toward Palermo. However, the theft was resolved through real-time GPS tracking. The victim utilized a tracking application on one of the stolen smartphones to monitor the device's movement along the extra-urban route, allowing the Carabinieri to intercept the suspects.
