Erick Lonis criticizes fake fans and faces resurfaced 2015 comments
Erick Lonis, president of the Deportivo Saprissa Sports Committee, has publicly criticized individuals he describes as “fake fans.” During an interview with Deportivas Columbia, Lonis claimed some people identify as supporters only to monetize the team's defeats by generating negative content and seeking social media engagement.
Following these remarks, a video from September 2015 resurfaced on social media. In the footage, Lonis criticized the commitment and performance of several players, including Deyver Vega, David Guzmán, David Ramírez, Minor Escoe, Ariel Rodríguez, and Diego Estrada. He specifically questioned the availability and consistency of players like Ramírez and Estrada, while also critiquing the offensive contributions of Vega.
