Erick Portillo finishes sixth in Diamond League high jump final

Mexican athlete Erick Portillo finished sixth in the high jump final at the Diamond League in Brussels, Belgium. Portillo made history as the first Mexican athlete to compete in a Diamond League final in any discipline.

During the competition, Portillo achieved a best height of 2.21 meters. This mark was equaled by Jamaica’s Romaine Beckford, though Beckford secured a higher ranking by requiring fewer attempts to reach that height. Both athletes were unable to clear 2.25 meters.

Poland’s Mateusz Kołodziejski won the title after clearing 2.28 meters on his first attempt. American JuVaughn Harrison also reached 2.28 meters but required more attempts. The third-place position was shared by Italy’s Gianmarco Tamberi and Ukraine’s Oleh Doroshchuk, both clearing 2.25 meters.
