Erick Portillo wins bronze in high jump at Ultimate Championship

Mexican high jumper Erick Portillo secured third place at the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest, Hungary. Portillo achieved a best jump of 2.26 meters without any failed attempts during the competition.

Italian athlete Gianmarco Tamberi took first place with a jump of 2.37 meters, marking the best performance in the world this year. Javaughn Harrison of the United States finished second with a jump of 2.30 meters.

This achievement concludes a successful 2026 season for Portillo, who is currently ranked eighth in the world. The competition, which featured elite athletes including Olympic and Diamond League champions, awarded Portillo a $40,000 prize from a total purse of $10 million.
