Erick Thohir addresses supporter violence and FIFA leadership

PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir has announced plans to implement strict sanctions, including point deductions, in response to ongoing supporter violence during the 2026/2027 Super League. These measures follow several incidents, including clashes at Banten International Stadium and a fatality involving Persib Bandung supporters at Pakansari Stadium.

Thohir has coordinated with the Indonesian National Police to address criminal activities within football environments. While law enforcement handles crimes occurring outside stadiums, Thohir has instructed the league operator, I. League, and club managements to enforce regulations without compromise. A formal commitment between PSSI and the police regarding criminal prosecution is expected to be announced within two weeks.

Separately, Thohir reaffirmed Indonesia's support for Gianni Infantino to continue leading FIFA. He noted that this stance aligns with the consensus among Asian nations and reflects the harmonious relationship between the Indonesian government, led by President Prabowo, and FIFA leadership.
