Erick Thohir warns supporters ahead of Persija vs Persib match

Erick Thohir, the Chairman of PSSI and Minister of Youth and Sports, has issued a stern warning to supporters ahead of the high-stakes match between Persija Jakarta and Persib Bandung. The match, part of the second week of the 2026-2027 Super League, is scheduled to take place at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) in Jakarta.

Thohir reminded all parties of the Kanjuruhan Tragedy to ensure such violence is never repeated. He emphasized that the rivalry between the two clubs must not lead to violence or casualties, noting that past incidents have damaged Indonesia's international reputation and could lead to severe FIFA sanctions.

Thohir called on Persija Jakarta to act as a responsible host and urged Persib Bandung supporters to maintain order. He further stated that there will be zero tolerance for provocation or violence, confirming an agreement with the Indonesian National Police to pursue the heaviest legal consequences for any individual whose actions prevent supporters from returning home safely.
