Erick Vargas Campero appointed director of DGAC
Erick Eduardo Vargas Campero has been appointed as the interim executive director of the General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC). The appointment was formalized by the Minister of Public Works, Services, and Housing, Mauricio Zamora.
Vargas Campero brings extensive aeronautical expertise to the role, including 48 years of experience and over 20,000 flight hours. His professional background includes serving as a director of Operational Safety and a project leader with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). He has also held captain and instructor positions at various airlines, including Boliviana de Aviación, Copa Airlines, and Shenzhen Airlines.
The new leadership intends to focus on strengthening institutional processes and improving civil aviation operational safety. Additionally, the administration plans to continue the “open skies policy” previously established by the Ministry.
