Ericsson tests 5G technology to detect low-flying drones

Swedish telecommunications company Ericsson is utilizing existing 5G network infrastructure to detect low-flying commercial drones. The company has conducted tests using its 5G equipment to identify drone activity, such as during observations near the Vuosaari harbor in Finland.

This development comes as drone monitoring becomes an increasingly significant sector, particularly as hybrid threats rise. The technology aims to leverage mobile mast infrastructure to enhance airspace security and detect unauthorized drone presence.
