Erik Scheidt competes in ILCA 6 world championship in Portugal
Erik Scheidt, the 17-year-old son of two-time Olympic champion Robert Scheidt, is competing in the ILCA 6 sailing world championship in Vilamoura, Portugal. Following a successful season in Europe that included victories at Kieler Woche and both the European and World U-19 championships, Scheidt is now entering the open category, which has no age limits.
He is one of four Brazilian sailors participating in the event, which features 62 sailors from 18 different countries. The competition is hosted by the Capable Planet Clube Náutico and is scheduled to run from September 28 to October 2. Scheidt noted that while his father's history in the same class serves as inspiration, he aims to forge his own path in the sport.
