Erjon Vishkulli successfully undergoes eye surgery in Rome

Erjon Vishkulli, a 28-year-old from Elbasan, has successfully undergone a surgical procedure at the Gemelli Clinic in Rome to save his eye. The surgery was performed by Professor Stanislao Rizzo.

Vishkulli was severely injured in the eye by a rubber bullet during student protests in Tirana on October 24. While he initially received medical treatment in Albania, he was transferred to Italy for specialized care due to the complexity of the injury.

Albanian Health Minister Klodiana Spahiu announced the successful outcome and confirmed that the Albanian government has approved financial support for his ongoing treatment. She noted that while the organ has been saved, the process of restoring his sight will require continued patience and medical follow-up.
