Erkan Taş Named Head Wrestler at 918th Aybastı Perşembe Yaylası Festival

The traditional Aybastı Perşembe Yaylası yağlı güreş and culture festival was held for the 918th time on the 1,500‑metre‑high plateau in the Aybastı district of Ordu Province, Turkey. Organized jointly by the Ordu Metropolitan Municipality and Aybastı Municipality under the CV Energy Wrestling League, the event attracted thousands of spectators from across the country.

In the final bout, Erkan Taş defeated Mustafa Taş to become the başpehlivan (head wrestler) of the festival. Ordu Metropolitan Mayor Dr. Mehmet Hilmi Güler attended, praised the large public interest and congratulated both wrestlers for their sportsmanship. The festival continued to showcase the historic oil‑wrestling tradition while drawing significant local participation and media coverage.
