Erlangen SPD criticizes proposed municipal budget cuts
The SPD faction in the Erlangen city council has criticized proposed budget consolidation measures presented by the CDU/CSU and Green coalition. The SPD warns that the proposed cuts will significantly reduce the quality of life in the city and disproportionately affect low-income residents.
Key proposed reductions include cuts to the ErlangenPass, which provides social benefits, as well as funding for children and youth services. Specific measures mentioned include the potential elimination of play and learning centers, restrictions on youth welfare services, the removal of reduced swimming pool entry fees for ErlangenPass holders, the loss of social public transport tickets, and reductions in funding for the city library and music school.
