Erlebnis-Zoo Hannover transitions to winter season

Erlebnis-Zoo Hannover will begin its winter operating season on Monday, October 26, 2026. The transition follows the final summer season boat trips on the Sambesi river, scheduled for Sunday, October 25. Following these trips, the boats will be moved to a dry dock for the winter.

During the winter period, which lasts until mid-March, the zoo will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 09:00 to 16:00. While Mondays are generally rest days, exceptions will be made during Lower Saxony school holidays. Visitors can observe animals such as bison, reindeer, wolves, meerkats, and hippos, as well as various species in heated enclosures like the Amphibium and the new Reptilium.

A seasonal highlight, “ZooLights,” will run from November 17 to February 2, 2027. This evening event features over 750 illuminated objects and approximately 20,000 meters of light chains along a two-kilometer path through the zoo's themed worlds.
