Erling Haaland confirmed in Manchester City captaincy group

Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed that Erling Braut Haaland and Ruben Dias will remain part of the club’s four-man captaincy group for the upcoming season. Maresca intends to select the remaining two members of the leadership structure once the transfer window has closed.

While Haaland remains a key leader, he is unlikely to wear the official captain's armband as frequently as Dias. Maresca explained that his tactical preference is to call the captain to the touchline for instructions immediately after a goal is scored. Because of Haaland’s high scoring frequency, Maresca noted that having him serve as the primary armband holder could be impractical, as it would interfere with his ability to celebrate.

The leadership group is undergoing changes following the departures of Bernardo Silva to Real Madrid and the potential move of Rodri to Barcelona.
