Ermelo investigates new Friday market to resolve permit issues

The municipality of Ermelo is investigating the introduction of a new Friday market at the Raadhuisplein to address long-standing permit issues regarding existing market stalls. The local government has determined there is no sufficient legal basis to issue new permits for current locations on the Markt, where certain vendors have operated under tolerance for years.

This proposal aims to provide a structural solution for entrepreneurs, including butchers and fishmongers, while potentially increasing foot traffic and center vitality. The municipality is currently evaluating the practical and legal feasibility of the plan, as well as the potential competitive impact on the existing Tuesday market.
