Ermesinde: Theft of gold valued at over 50,000 euros from elderly woman

A 71-year-old woman in Ermesinde was robbed of a safe containing gold jewelry valued at over 50,000 euros, cash, and other valuables. The theft is currently under investigation by the Public Ministry.

According to the family, the suspect is a woman approximately 50 years old who established a relationship of trust with the victim after meeting her on a bus. The suspect reportedly offered to help with domestic chores and initially requested loans, which the victim granted. After the victim refused a subsequent request for money, the family discovered the safe and cash were missing.

Some of the stolen gold pieces have been located at gold-buying establishments, where they were allegedly sold using the suspect's identification. While authorities have conducted a home search and seized a mobile phone, several pieces of jewelry and a watch remain missing. The family has issued an appeal to anyone who may have acquired these items, noting that many pieces hold significant sentimental value passed down through generations.
