Ermoupolis students to explore refugee history through dance theater
The Akropoditi Dance and Performing Arts Center, in collaboration with KEPEA Syros Ermoupolis, has launched a project inviting middle and high school students in Ermoupolis to join a dance-theater group for the 2026-2027 school year.
The initiative aims to create a cohesive performance centered on the refugee waves that have shaped the identity of Ermoupolis over the last 200 years. The project involves a research phase where students will visit archives and public or private sites to collect stories, images, and testimonies to serve as the foundation for their artistic creation.
Funded by the Cycladic Identity Initiative of the Cycladic Institute, the program does not require prior dance or movement experience. The project is scheduled to culminate in a performance in May or June 2027.
