Černý Bridge Near Hodonín Prepares for Beam Installation; Głuchołazy Bridge Reopens After Floods

Work on the new Černý Bridge in Hodonín, Czech Republic, is progressing toward a key milestone. Prefabricated concrete beams are scheduled to be placed at the start of August, completing the span that will cross the Břeclav‑Přerov railway corridor. The bridge, 20 m long, 12.85 m wide and 7.3 m high, is part of a 66.5‑million‑koruna project intended to replace a decades‑old structure and alleviate long‑standing traffic detours. Deputy regional governor Jiří Crha highlighted that the construction follows the planned schedule, while spokesperson Monika Švehlová confirmed the timeline extends through November.

In nearby Głuchołazy, Poland, a new bridge over the Biała Głuchołaska river has been completed to restore cross‑border traffic with the Czech Republic. The 52‑m‑long, 19‑m‑wide bridge, built at a cost of roughly 106 million złoty, replaces a structure destroyed by September 2024 floods. Polish infrastructure minister Dariusz Klimczak noted the design incorporates lessons from the flooding, improving resilience and supporting regional economic and tourism development. Full two‑lane traffic is expected to resume in November after final connection works.
