Ernest Hemingway's philosophy and the 'Vidas que inspiran' literary contest

Ernest Hemingway, the Nobel Prize-winning author known for works such as ‘The Old Man and the Sea’, is highlighted for his reflection that ‘the secret of wisdom, power, and knowledge is humility’. Despite his public persona as an adventurer and war correspondent, Hemingway practiced a form of literary humility through his ‘iceberg theory’ and constant revision of his work.

In a related literary context, the Ageingnomics Research Center, supported by the Fundación Mapfre, has launched the second edition of its literary contest, ‘Vidas que inspiran’ (Lives that Inspire). The competition seeks unpublished manuscripts of up to 120 pages that explore the experiences and diversity of old age. The contest, which aims to reflect on the realities of an aging population, accepts entries until November 15.
