Ernestina Pavlovsky detained by ICE in United States
Ernestina “Tina” Pavlovsky, a 33-year-old Argentine national who has lived in Aspen, Colorado, for 13 years, is currently detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). She was arrested on August 1 at Miami International Airport while attempting to board a flight back to Colorado following a visit to family in Florida.
Pavlovsky, a personal trainer, had originally entered the United States on a tourist visa. Her efforts to regularize her immigration status were reportedly left unfinished following a divorce. Her partner, Cody Kosinski, stated that she was apprehended by plainclothes agents at a boarding gate.
Following her arrest, Pavlovsky was transferred through various facilities in Florida before being moved to the CoreCivic Processing Center in Laredo, Texas. A judge recently denied her request for bail, citing insufficient ties to the country. Community members in Aspen have raised approximately $50,000 to support her legal defense. A judicial hearing regarding her status is scheduled for September 1.
