Ernesto Forero appointed president of Colombia's ANH
The Colombian government has officially appointed Ernesto Francisco Forero Fernández de Castro as the new president of the National Hydrocarbons Agency (ANH). The appointment was formalized through Decree 1189 of 2026, issued by the Ministry of Mines and Energy and signed by Minister María Nohemí Arboleda Arango.
Forero Fernández de Castro, a lawyer with over 20 years of experience in the private sector, assumes leadership of the agency at a critical time for the country's energy security. His role involves managing hydrocarbon resources and navigating the transition toward new energy priorities. The appointment comes as the national government seeks to address discussions regarding oil and gas reserves and the potential reactivation of exploration and production activities in Colombia.
