Ernesto Guevara commemorations held in Argentina

Commemorations are being held in Argentina to mark the anniversary of the death of Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara, who was executed in Bolivia in October 1967. In Moreno, members of the Association of Argentine-Cuban Friendship organized ceremonies to honor the revolutionary leader.

In Rosario, the city where Guevara was born, events include an anti-imperialist gathering at the Plaza Ernesto Che Guevara. This plaza features a four-meter bronze statue created by artist Andrés Zerneri, which was cast using thousands of donated objects from people worldwide.

The legacy of Guevara remains a point of political contention in Rosario. Local officials from the La Libertad Avanza party have advocated for the removal of references to Guevara and the dismantling of his monument within the city.
