Ernährungszentrum Mittlerer Neckar opens grain exhibition

The Ernährungszentrum Mittlerer Neckar has launched a new educational exhibition titled ‘Vom Feld auf den Teller – Regionales Getreide entdecken’ (From Field to Plate – Discovering Regional Grain). The exhibition, which is free to visit until July 31, 2028, aims to teach visitors about grain cultivation, processing, and the importance of dietary fiber.

A major focus of the exhibition is addressing food waste. Data indicates that in Germany, nearly ten kilograms of bread and baked goods—roughly equivalent to 120 rolls or ten loaves—are thrown away per person annually. The display illustrates the amount of agricultural land and labor required for bread production and provides practical tips on proper storage to keep food fresh longer.
