Eros Gagliardi, 18‑year‑old Milan footballer, dies in electric‑scooter collision

Eros Gagliardi, an 18‑year‑old Milan native and avid football fan, fought COVID‑19‑related myocarditis in early 2026 and, after months of rehabilitation, regained his sporting licence and trained with GS Vedano.

On the night of 11–12 June 2026 he was a passenger on an electric scooter driven by a 20‑year‑old friend when the scooter entered Viale dell’Innovazione in the Bicocca district and collided with a car, striking the vehicle’s left‑hand side. Neither rider was wearing a helmet; the driver tested negative for alcohol and drugs. Gagliardi sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.

The tragedy reignited debate over e‑scooter safety in Milan. Assoutenti president Gabriele Melluso said, “La sicurezza di chi utilizza i monopattini elettrici deve rappresentare una priorità assoluta,” urging immediate dialogue among institutions, local authorities, operators and insurers to enforce safety rules.
