ERP systems require specialized security focus, Onapsis warns
Onapsis has highlighted the critical need for dedicated security strategies for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. During Cybersecurity Awareness Month, the company noted that ERP systems are uniquely vulnerable due to their complex architectures and the sensitive business processes they manage.
Following the discovery of several critical vulnerabilities in SAP environments in September, Onapsis emphasizes that organizations must move beyond mere awareness. Companies are encouraged to prioritize risks based on their specific business context and integrate SAP security data into existing Security Operations Center (SOC) processes. Effective defense requires close collaboration between SAP and general security teams.
Separately, a Kaseya report involving over 1,300 IT professionals indicates that human error remains a primary cybersecurity threat. Approximately 68 percent of respondents identified human behavior, such as social engineering or negligence, as a major risk for the upcoming year.
