Erri De Luca releases new book ‘Sotto processo’

Italian writer Erri De Luca, 76, has released a new volume titled ‘Sotto processo’ (Under Trial) through Feltrinelli. The book includes an unpublished section, alongside ‘The Contrarian Word’ and ‘Other Civil Writings’.

The first part of the work features a fictionalized interrogation where an elderly writer is judged by a group of young people. The dialogue explores themes of generational power, the role of literature, and the idea of the elderly stepping down from political and social influence.

This release follows previous controversies regarding De Luca's statements on Zionism and the situation in Gaza. The collection also references his past legal involvement regarding the No Tav protests in Val di Susa.
