Errol Gulden's return fuels Sydney Swans' premiership push

Mid‑season midfielder Errol Gulden dislocated his shoulder in the Swans’ second game against Brisbane. Despite his absence, Sydney won 10 of the next 12 matches with a fast‑handball style. Gulden returned in round 16 with a heavily strapped shoulder, initially drifting in contests but quickly regaining form. In his first four games back he averaged 24 disposals and two clearances, and in the two subsequent wins he posted 37.5 disposals and seven clearances, cementing his role in the team’s push for the premiership.

Former Swans midfielder Jude Bolton praised Gulden’s recovery, noting the difficulty of the injury. The Swans also dealt with a season‑ending lower‑leg injury to defender Will Edwards and a lingering concern for midfielder James Rowbottom.
