ERSUC launches glass recycling initiative across 17 Portuguese municipalities

The intermunicipal concessionaire ERSUC has launched the “Vidro a Vidro Fazemos o Impossível” project, an initiative designed to increase the collection and quality of glass recycling within the hospitality, catering, and retail sectors.

Running until December 15, 2026, the campaign targets 17 municipalities, including Coimbra, Aveiro, Águeda, and Figueira da Foz. The project aims to directly impact 2,923 clients by providing training, diagnostic support for waste separation practices, and informative materials.

Key components of the initiative include the installation of specialized glass bins equipped with assisted tipping systems to facilitate easier unloading. Participating establishments will receive free containers (either 32 or 120 liters) compatible with these systems. To recognize sustainable practices, participating businesses can earn a specific seal to display to customers, highlighting their commitment to the circular economy. The project is supported by Sociedade Ponto Verde through the Rede Recicla+ Program.
