Kırıkkale Fight Fatal: Man Dies After Falling into Kızılırmak River

Ertuğrul Altan, a 37‑year‑old man, was involved in a night‑time altercation at a riverside recreation area on Yeşil Vadi Caddesi in Bahşılı district, Kırıkkale province. Witnesses say he was assaulted by two other men, identified as Ö. Y. (29) and D. Y. (34). While trying to leave the scene, Altan lost his balance in the dark and fell into the Kızılırmak River, where he drowned.

Police underwater rescue divers from the Ankara Metropolitan Police Sualtı Grup were dispatched. After about half an hour of searching, they recovered Altan’s body approximately 10 metres from the riverbank in 3 metres of water. The body was taken to Kırıkkale Yüksek İhtisas Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Both suspects were detained. Following judicial proceedings, Ö. Y. was ordered to be held in custody, while D. Y. was released pending further investigation. The case remains under active inquiry by the local homicide bureau.
