Erzincan family seeks aid for child with rare brain disease
The family of 7-year-old Hafsa Keleş, residing in Erzincan, is seeking financial assistance to manage the costs of treating a rare neurological condition known as acute necrotizing encephalopathy (ANE).
Hafsa first experienced the disease at age 2, which causes sudden and widespread brain damage, such as necrosis and bleeding, often following a viral infection. After recovering from the first episode, she suffered a second attack at age 7. She has been undergoing home care and therapy for approximately 10 months, with her treatment being monitored by the Pediatric Neurology Department at Erzurum Atatürk University Hospital.
The family faces severe financial hardship. Hafsa's father, İsmail Keleş, reported that he lost his job due to the frequent travel required for her medical treatments in Erzurum and has been unable to find new employment. The monthly medical expenses, including medication and hospital visits, have reached approximately 100,000 Turkish Lira.
