Erzincan farmers work in extreme heat to maintain sugar beet crops

Farmers in Erzincan are performing intensive maintenance work on sugar beet crops despite extreme summer temperatures reaching 35 to 40 degrees Celsius.

To ensure healthy crop development, workers engage in weeding and hoeing tasks, often starting as early as 06:00 or 07:00 and continuing until 17:00. To protect themselves from the sun, laborers use hats and long-sleeved clothing while working on their knees to clear weeds. Farmers noted that while the heat makes the labor difficult, the work is essential for maintaining production and supporting family incomes.
