Erzincan geothermal greenhouse demonstrates high-yield modern farming

Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı visited a geothermal-powered greenhouse in Erzincan to inspect modern agricultural production techniques. The facility utilizes soilless farming, which allows a 30-decare greenhouse to produce the same yield as a 90-decare traditional soil-based farm.

Yumaklı noted that the use of geothermal energy significantly reduces energy costs and that the controlled, isolated conditions of the greenhouse allow for production without the use of pesticides. He emphasized that organized agricultural zones are a key part of the Ministry’s medium-term plans, contributing to both domestic food security and significant export volumes.
