Turkey launches various regional youth development and sports initiatives

Several regional projects in Turkey are targeting youth development through education, sports, and literacy. In Kütahya, the Pazarlar Sports High School Sports Club is launching a talent scouting project across the Pazarlar, Şaphane, Simav, and Gediz districts. The initiative aims to identify and train young athletes in wrestling and taekwondo through free training sessions scheduled for the 2026-2027 academic year.

In Erzurum and Erzincan, the “No One Should Be Without Skiing” project, led by instructor Canser Atila under the Youth and Sports Provincial Directorate, is bringing skiing to schools. Using specialized tent tracks in schoolyards, the program has introduced nearly 400 students, including those with special needs, to winter sports to foster future national athletes.

Other local efforts include Canik Municipality’s focus on science and technology education, which includes organizing student trips to Çanakkale and Southeast Anatolia. Additionally, in Denizli, a new protocol has been signed for the “A Wise Generation with One Who Knows” competition, designed to improve high school students' reading habits and analytical writing skills through mentored book analysis and essay contests.
