Erzincan sports project engages 3,000 children

The ‘Değer Erzincan Spor Kulüpleri’ project in Erzincan is providing sports training to approximately 3,000 children to combat digital addiction and harmful habits. Coordinated by the Governor's Office and launched in 2024, the initiative repurposes unused sections of public buildings into sports centers.

Currently, 24 sports clubs are operating across the city and its districts, led by 78 coaches. Children aged 4 to 18 are receiving instruction in 21 different disciplines, including football, volleyball, basketball, karate, gymnastics, and table tennis. The expenses for each club are covered by the specific public institution that hosts it.

Governor Hamza Aydoğdu stated that the project aims to support children's physical, mental, and social development alongside their academic studies. Four additional centers are expected to open in new neighborhoods within the next two months.
