Erzurum begins construction on 20,000-capacity modern stadium

Construction has commenced on a new sports complex in Erzurum, Turkey, following an announcement by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Located on Mehmet Sekmen Boulevard near the airport, the project is currently in the foundation and infrastructure stage, with heavy machinery and cranes active on-site.

The project, managed by the Housing Development Administration of Turkey (TOKİ), includes a 20,000-seat modern stadium designed to withstand winter conditions. The complex will also feature a 5,000-capacity indoor sports hall, a full Olympic-sized swimming pool, and various entertainment areas. The architectural design will utilize a blue-and-white color scheme.

An international construction firm signed a contract for the project valued at approximately 5.8 billion TL, following a tender process with an estimated cost of 6.278 billion TL. The official completion date for the complex is scheduled for January 14, 2028.
