Erzurum garage fire prompts resident to use garden hose

A fire broke out in an abandoned garage on Buket Street in the Adnan Menderes neighbourhood of Palandöken, Erzurum, around 16:00. The flames spread quickly, prompting a nearby resident to spray his home with a garden hose to keep the fire from reaching his apartment. Police evacuated adjacent buildings and a fire‑fighting crew arrived with three vehicles, extinguishing the blaze after roughly 30 minutes. During the operation firefighters discovered a kitchen gas cylinder in the garage, cooled it with high‑pressure water and moved it to a safe area to prevent an explosion. One person suffered a minor arm injury and was taken to hospital. Authorities have opened an investigation into the cause of the fire.
