Erzurum hosts first school of the Turkey Gastronomy High Schools Project
The first step of the Turkey Gastronomy High Schools Project has been launched in Erzurum with the opening of the Ülker Gastronomy Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School. Attended by Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin, the school aims to train qualified human resources for the gastronomy sector.
The five-year program, which includes an English preparatory year, offers practical training in specialized workshops such as dairy products, meat cutting, and cooking. Students will study Turkish and international cuisines, hygiene, food safety, and culinary arts.
During the ceremony, Minister Yusuf Tekin emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting Anatolia's local culinary culture to the world. He noted that the lack of Michelin-starred restaurants representing local Anatolian traditions is a missed opportunity for tourism and cultural marketing.
