Erzurum municipality bans illegal Kurban slaughter and imposes fines
The Erzurum Metropolitan Municipality announced strict rules for the upcoming Kurban Bayramı (Eid al‑Adha). Slaughter and meat‑pulling are allowed only in areas designated by the provincial Kurban Services Commission; any cutting of animals on streets, sidewalks, public spaces or gardens is prohibited. Waste from the slaughter must be placed in sealed bags and disposed of in trash containers.
Citizens are instructed to use only licensed butchers and to avoid unlicensed vendors. Violations will be penalised with administrative monetary fines under Turkey’s Law No. 5326 on Minor Offences and Law No. 2872 on Environmental Protection. A 24‑hour hotline (Alo 153) was established for complaints and reports.
