Erzurum pigeon breeder uses high-level security to protect valuable birds
In Erzurum, Turkey, Muhammet Murat Yılmaz, a municipal employee and long-time hobbyist, has implemented high-level security measures to protect his collection of Şebap breed pigeons. The collection, consisting of 25 to 30 birds, has an estimated total value of approximately 800,000 TL, with individual birds valued between 15,000 TL and 200,000 TL.
To safeguard the birds, Yılmaz utilizes 24-hour security cameras, steel doors, and a Belgian Shepherd. Additionally, the pigeons are registered with the Şebap Pigeon Federation and wear specialized steel rings on their legs that serve as permanent identification. Yılmaz, who has been breeding pigeons for roughly 37 years, emphasized that while the birds hold significant monetary value, he views them as a passion rather than a commercial commodity.
