Erzurum shepherd protects British tourists from bear danger
In the Şenkaya district of Erzurum, a local shepherd named Semih Gök provided shelter to three British tourists to protect them from potential bear encounters. The tourists, who were exploring the area by bicycle, had set up a tent near Liksor Deresi as night fell.
Gök, who was grazing animals in the vicinity, warned that the area is known for frequent wildlife sightings, including bears. Concerned for their safety, he invited the group to stay in his own tent. Despite language barriers, the tourists were hosted with warm meals, tea, and molasses, turning a potentially dangerous situation into a moment of cultural exchange and hospitality.
