Erzurum to commemorate 149th anniversary of Aziziye Epic

The Erzurum Governor's Office has finalized preparations for a series of commemorative events to mark the 149th anniversary of the Aziziye Epic, which took place on November 9, 1877. The program, approved by Governor Aydın Baruş, is scheduled for Monday, November 9.

The commemorations will begin at 06:30 with the recitation of prayers from all mosques in the city center, followed by a historical call to the citizens. The schedule includes a visit to the Karskapı Martyrdom, nine cannon shots, and a march to the Aziziye Trenches.

Events at the Aziziye-1 Trench will feature a moment of silence, the national anthem, and readings of historical decrees. The program also includes theatrical performances such as “A Morning in Aziziye,” poetry readings, and a performance by the Metropolitan Municipality Mehteran Band. The ceremonies will conclude with a visit to the tomb of Nene Hatun.
